Dr Leo Christodoulou
Dr Leo Christodoulou is a former Executive Senior Director, Engineering at the Boeing Company USA, Director of the Advanced Manufacturing Office of the US Department of Energy and Director of the Defense Sciences Office of the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Dr Christodoulou held the post of Reader, Materials Processing and Performance, at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine.
Dr Christodoulou’s expertise is in the development, synthesis, manufacturing, structure and behaviour of materials and structures with special emphasis on their application in high-consequence applications. His interests are in new materials and manufacturing methods, design, building and development of unmanned air vehicles, space platform components, procedures and software tools for ensuring structural integrity and health monitoring of air platforms.
Dr Christodoulou has over 50 published papers and over 30 patents in the areas of new materials, manufacturing, structural integrity and use. He is the recipient of over twenty awards including the Medal for Distinguished Public Service (the highest Award given to a civilian).
